May Sacramento Delta weather

May in the Delta
May can be perfect weather in the Delta, with just light breezes in the afternoon and peaceful water perfect for fishing because its not yet very warm water. By Memorial Day week end the water gets close to its summer temperature, as the snow runoff from Tahoe dwindles and the sun warms the fresh water of Steamboat Slough. But May can also be rainy and/or windy, so expect Delta breezes in the late afternoons and evenings. If there are clouds around, they will be a combination of high and low clouds, which can make for pretty sunrises and sunsets. The following photos were taken daily during May 2009 at and around Snug Harbor on Steamboat Slough near Rio Vista.

5-17-09 calm and warm morning with as high as 99 expected today. Not usual May weather!	5-18-09 morning is also a warm one like the day before. 3 different photos stitched together.
5-15-09 around 6 am its calm and a warmish morning	5-16-09 before sunrise. Some wind but pretty warm.

5-10-09 before sunrise its calm and peaceful	5-10-09 in the afternoon the Delta breezes have come up and there's slight ripples on the water. Warmish day though!
